Up to the moment on our website you can find the vertical electron density profiles for several specific geographical locations: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Irkutsk and the SURA heating facility. The plots represent the vertical structure of the ionosphere for the selected point. The altitude and the magnitude of the main ionospheric maximum of electron density highly affects the radiowave propagation in the region of interest, thus making the vertical profile an important information piece for the ray-tracing applications. Moreover, in some periods of time a second, weaker maximum can be formed - the so-called sporadic E layer of the ionosphere. This one can also affect the propagation of the electromagnetic waves of certain frequencies, in particular middle-length waves and short radiowaves.
